RULES & REGULATIONS

 

Art. 1 - INTRODUCTION

The Associazione Alessio, located in Pieve di Cento (Bologna) announces the 4th International “Roberta Gallinari” Piano Competition with the aim of promoting musical culture among the young.

Art. 2 - ADMISSION CRITERIA

The Competition is open to pianists of any nationality who are no older than 35 years of age at the time of the contest (October 21, 2019).

Art. 3 – COMPETITION DATE AND LOCATION

The Competition will be held from October 21 to 24, 2019 at the “Alice Zeppilli” theatre in Pieve di Cento, piazza Andrea Costa, 17. The  Concert of the Winners and prize giving will take place in the same venue on October, 24 at 9 pm.

Art. 4 – SELECTIONS

The Competition consists of three stages: a preliminary, a semifinal and a final round. All compositions must be played by heart. Attendance is open to the public.

1st ROUND - (20 minutes maximum) The Preliminary Stage must include:

 - a Virtuoso Etude by Chopin, Liszt, Rachmaninoff, Scriabin, Deubussy, Prokofiev, Bartok or Ligeti.

2nd ROUND - (40 minutes maximum) The program it is a contestant’s choice, including

- a Classical Sonata (Haydn, Mozart, Clementi, Beethoven, Schubert)

It is not allowed to repeat a piece from the 1st round. A maximum of 9 competitors will be admitted to the Semi-final Stage.

3rd ROUND – (40 minutes maximum). A maximum of 3 pianists will be admitted to the Final Stage. Thre programmust include:

- a major Romantic piece.

It is not allowed to repeat pieces from the 1st and 2nd round.

 Art. 5 – Entry fee AND TERMS OF application

The entry fee is € 70,00 (seventy/00 euro), non-refundable unless the Competition is cancelled. You can apply only via the online form (www.associazionealessio.com). The application deadline isOctober, 1st, 2019. Applications sent after this date will be ignored. A letter of the alphabet will determine the presentation order of the candidates. The letter will be chosen by ballot in the presence of the President of the Associazione Alessio, on October, 10, at 9 am. The list of the candidates admitted to the Competition, as well as the day and the approximate time of the preliminary performance of each candidate, will be published on the Associazione Alessio website (www.associazionealessio.com) on October, 12 and will be considered an official notification. Admitted candidates will not receive any further notification of their application. They will present themselves at the location of the Competition on an indicated day, at 9 am, pursuant to the provisions laid down in art.8.

Art. 6 – REQUIRED SUPPORTING MATERIALS

Required supporting materials to be attached to the application form are:

Copy - front and back sides - of a valid identity card or passport (photograph and self-certification by a parent for minors);

curriculum vitae;

proof of payment of the entry fee. The details are as follow:

Incomplete registrations will be ignored.

Art. 7 – LIMITS OF THE ADMISSION

The Competition reserves the right to refuse the entry of some competitors, if they are too numerous and the Competition can not accomodate all of them within the schedule time. In this case, the Secretariat will consider the date of application as an admittance  criteria in this case and exclude the latest-ones. This decision shall be final. In this case, fees paid by the candidates excluded from  the Competition shall be refunded.

Art. 8 – PRELIMINARY ROUND

Competitors must present themselves at the Secretariat of the Competition the day before their convocation, or at least before 9 am of the day of their performance, with a valid identity document and a copy of the music scores of the pieces to be performed. The Secretariat of the Competition will publish online its opening hours for the registration of the candidates. Candidates will perform  according to the schedule published on-line and pursuant to the provisions of Art. 5. Absent or late coming competitors will be excluded from the Competition.

Art. 9 – THE JURY

Internationally acclaimed concert pianists and piano pedagogues will compose the Jury. Members of the Jury that are currently teaching or have taught any of the competitors within the last two years  will not be permitted to vote. In this case, the vote of the President (or the Vice President) of the Jury will be counted twice. Each member of the Jury will sign a declaration stating that he/she is not  related, connected, married to any of the competitors or is his/ her teacher.

Art. 10 – PRACTICE FACILITIES

 

An upright or a digital piano will be available for the competitors for practicing. If the contestant would like to use it, he/she has to indicate so on the registration form.

Art. 11 – SEMI-FINAL ROUND

After the end of the Preliminary Round, the Jury will announce the names of the candidates admitted to the II Round (maximum 9 admitted). The names of the candidates will be published on the  website of the Associazione Alessio (www.associazionealessio.com), and this announcement will be considered an official notice. Candidates who will take part in the II Round will not receive any further acknowledgement and are asked to present themselves at the scheduled for the Semi-final. Absent or late coming competitors will be excluded from the Competition.

ART. 12 – FINAL ROUND

After the end of the Semi-final round, the Jury will give the names of the candidates admitted to the III Round (maximum 3 admitted). The names of the candidates who will take part in the final Round will also be published on the website of the Associazione Alessio (www.associazionealessio.com) and this announcement will be considered an official notice. Candidates who will take part in  the III Round will not receive any further acknowledgement and are asked to present themselves at the scheduled for the rehearsals. Absent or late coming competitors will be excluded from the Competition. The Winners must play at the Winner's concert on October, 24, at 9 pm to receive the prize. The finalists are asked to dress appropriately for a concert performance. The decisions of the Jury shall be final and unquestionable. The Competition Jury is not obliged to award all the prizes. All the prizes can be tied.

Special Prizes

The organising Secretariat of the Association with the agreement of the Jury, reserves the right to award further special mentions, prizes or concerts.

Art. 14 – MEDIA RIGHTS

Competition participants will not have exclusive rights for photographic material and/or video footage of their performances. By participating in the Competition participants agree to the inclusion of audio-visual material of their auditions on the website and social media as well as the use of their personal data. Every Round of the Competition will be available on Youtube channel of  Associazione Alessio on live streaming.

Art. 15 – RESPONSIBILITY WAIVER

The Associazione Alessio and the Management of the Teatro Zeppilli will not accept any responsibility for any damage to people and/or objects that may occur during the Competition.

Art. 16 – MODIFICATIONS

The organising Secretariat of the Associazione Alessio reserves the exclusive right to modify, shorten, delay or cancel the Competition if required. If the Competition is cancelled, the Associazione Alessio will not be held accountable apart from the reimbursement of fees already paid by participants.

Art. 17 – ACCEPTANCE OF THE REGULATIONS

Candidates are responsible for all expenses related to the participation in the Competition. By registering in the Competition, candidates unconditionally accept the regulations of this announcement. Art. 18 – PROTECTION OF PRIVACY

Pursuant to the provisions of Legislative Decree No. 196 of 30 June 2003, the “Data protection Act”, the Associazione Alessio informs partecipants that personal data provided at the time of registration will be stored and processed for activities related to the selection procedure and to send or publicise information or promotional materials related to the Association itself. Pursuant to the law in force, the owner of the data has the right to access, update, cancel and amend his or her data and object to the use of the same. In this case, the person responsible for the processing of personal data (manually and with electronic means) is Mrs. Annamaria Cevolani, as the President of the Associazione Alessio. The personal data is stored at the secretariat of the same Association in Pieve di Cento, via SS. Trinità, 4.
